The August 19, 2024 storm that destroyed Stony Brook's Mill Pond dam didn't stop at the hamlet line.

The same system breached the 1798 Stump Pond dam in Smithtown's Blydenburgh County Park, flooded Jericho Turnpike, put four feet of water in the basement of Smithtown Town Hall, and suspended LIRR service between Port Jefferson and Kings Park.

That night made the point better than any marketing copy could: these communities share one weather system, one watershed geography, and one set of restoration risks.

A crew based in the middle of that region, rather than dispatched from Nassau County or western Suffolk, gets to your door faster when the next one hits.

Response Times Across the Area

For most of our service area, a crew is on-site within roughly an hour of the call.

Saint James and Port Jefferson, our closest neighbors, typically see the fastest response; Commack, at the far edge of our coverage, may run slightly longer depending on traffic on Jericho Turnpike or Route 347.

During region-wide storm events, we triage by severity, with actively rising water getting priority over stable damage, and we're honest on the phone about realistic arrival windows rather than promising times we can't hit.

How Dispatch Works Across the Area

Every call starts the same way regardless of town: describe what's happening, and we'll tell you honestly what the response looks like: who's coming, roughly when, and what to do (or avoid doing) before the crew arrives.

We don't route calls through a national call center that doesn't know Route 25A from Route 347; the person answering knows this area because they work in it every day.
